‘The despite act’.©
An art-project about the importance of keeping balance in a seriously demanding world. Well.. that is the proper version.
The other version is that I sometimes get really tired of politics and lobbyists and loss and grief and serious global stuff and wanted to do a ‘Oh Feck it, let’s go play outside for a bit’ piece.
I made swings from raw fleece felt and 2nd hand climbing ropes. These swings and others will in coming years end up in parks, buildings, public places, homes, (and some not so legal places), with the help of a professional climber and young artist, who will be working with me part of the way. Photo’s will be made of people trying out the swings. We will also be looking for other artists who’d be eager to make swings out of any material or objects to be hung and then shot when in use. Photos will end up here and all shots will be featured on the project’s Facebook page.
For this project I want to put together a strong series of shots about people, community and ‘playing despite’, through the eyes of artists.
